Punishment as deterrence, written into a fragile body. The deal offered an opponent is brutal in its plainness: any source they control that deals damage to you costs them a permanent of their choosing. Swing with a creature and they sacrifice. Burn your face and they sacrifice. The clause triggers on the act of a source dealing damage rather than on the kind of source or the amount, so it covers combat, direct burn, ping effects, even a Pestilence loop, and each damage event from a single source extracts exactly one permanent: a three-damage Lightning Bolt and a chip from a 1/1 both pay the same toll. The escape valve is that the opponent chooses the tribute, so a savvy player feeds it tokens and excess lands rather than anything load-bearing, and the price only lands when they actually decide to connect. That makes it a Propaganda-style tax with teeth: not a wall that stops aggression, but a per-strike levy that forces the question of whether a given attack is worth a card. The frail 2/2 frame is the honest cost of an effect this punishing; she dies to almost anything, so the deterrent lasts exactly as long as the opponent decides leaving her alive is cheaper than killing her. She reads as a defensive linchpin: a piece you build a fortress around rather than a threat you point at a face.
