The tempo cost lands early, the payoff arrives late, and that asymmetry is the whole design. A land that makes creatures is a hedge against flooding: an extra draw that would otherwise be inert once the board is set instead converts into two bodies, so the mana base doubles as a small source of pressure. Because the tokens come from a land's activated ability rather than a creature cast, they slip past counterspells entirely, and they also let you rebuild onto an empty board after a sweeper has resolved. What keeps the rate honest is the tapped clause paired with a deliberately modest output: four mana plus tapping and sacrificing the land, for two power split across two bodies, is the price of stapling a mana sink onto a source you were already running. This belongs to a long line of lands that spend themselves to make tokens rather than animate into a creature, and those designs usually stumbled by handing back a single body whose activation never justified the slot. Splitting the output into two Soldiers and tying it to white's go-wide identity gives the card a floor as a plain white source and a ceiling as a flood outlet, so a chaff draw in a grinding game still cashes out as pressure.
