Memnite
The free creature in its purest form: no alternative cost to satisfy, no condition to meet, no life to pay. Ornithopter got there first as a flying 0/2, but that body does nothing on offense; this is the one that put a permanent on the board that can actually attack for the price of a card and a moment. That single point of power matters precisely because it makes the creature a real clock instead of a wall. Affinity and artifact-aggro shells treat it as a free attacker, a free blocker, and most importantly a free trigger and a free permanent: anything that counts artifacts, fuels metalcraft, feeds an improvise cost, or cares about creatures hitting the battlefield gets paid the instant this lands, at no mana cost at all. The danger it creates is structural rather than statistical. A 1/1 is trivially small, but a 1/1 that costs nothing warps the math of opening hands and explosive starts, turning a turn-one curve into something closer to a turn-zero one. That is the tradeoff baked into the design: the rate is absurd, so the ceiling on what it can do has to stay low, and a one-power Construct with no abilities is exactly where the line gets drawn. It is build-around fuel disguised as a vanilla creature, and every artifact-synergy shell that has wanted free bodies since has measured them against this.
