Maw of Kozilek
A 2/5 body that can flip into a 4/3 attacker at will, and that conversion is the entire design. The pump activation trades two points of survivability for two points of power, all spent on this creature's own frame, so the card poses a live question every turn: how much of its durability are you willing to mortgage for a push? Left alone it stalls ground assaults and trades up the curve; feed it enough colorless from your board and it becomes a repeatable threat that punches through, though only as long as an outside source keeps supplying the . Keying the activation to colorless specifically rather than any mana is the load-bearing choice. It anchors the card in a shell already generating
from sources like Eldrazi Temple or Wastes, rewarding a deck built around that mana rather than any red pile with untapped lands. Devoid finishes the read by stripping the card's color, so it resolves as a colorless Eldrazi despite the red pip in its cost (color identity stays red for deckbuilding, but nothing on the battlefield sees it as red). The result is a single four-drop occupying two roles inside one turn: an obstacle when the mana stays open, an aggressive finisher the moment you commit colorless to it. The defensive body and the attacker are the same Drone, and which one you get is decided phase by phase.
