Master of the Pearl Trident

Creature — MerfolkBlue manaBlue mana

Islandwalk is the part everyone remembers, but the anthem is the part that wins games. Lord of Atlantis has long handed out the same buff-plus-evasion package, and the most important thing about this card is that it stacks with it: a board running both lords swings the team for +2/+2 and grants islandwalk twice over (redundant on the keyword, but the stat boost is real). That redundancy is the entire pitch for a tribe that lives and dies on critical mass. Islandwalk is feast-or-famine evasion, brutal against an Island-heavy opponent and inert against one without a blue source, which is why the team-wide pump matters more than the unblockable clause most of the time: even when the keyword is dead, a stalled board of two or three fish still gets meaningfully bigger. The card is doing nothing structurally new (it is a second copy of an effect Merfolk decks already prized), and that is the point. Tribal aggro built on lords scales with each redundant payoff you draw, and the design discipline here is restraint: rather than inventing a fresh wrinkle, it pours another identical pump-and-evasion engine onto the pile so that the third or fourth fish you commit multiplies everything that came before. A creature you are happy to draw late precisely because the deck wanted four of the same thing.

Other Merfolk creatures you control get +1/+1 and have islandwalk. (They can't be blocked as long as defending player controls an Island.)
