Mask of Griselbrand

Naming an Equipment after Griselbrand tells you what the card is chasing: draw seven, pay seven life, the demon that got banned in Commander for being too clean an engine. This is the fair version of that promise, and the fairness lives entirely in the death trigger. The card refunds you nothing while the creature is alive. You get flying and lifelink, a body that trades attacks for a bit of padding, and then the payoff only arrives when the equipped creature dies, at which point you convert its power into cards at the cost of that much life. The design turns a liability into the plan: you want the creature to die, ideally one with high power, ideally on your terms via a sacrifice effect rather than an opponent's removal. Lifelink is the piece that makes the life payment survivable, banking the points the draw will later spend, so the two abilities are not separate perks but a closed loop: gain life in combat, burn it for cards in the graveyard. It is a slower, more conditional engine than the demon on the name suggests, gated behind an equip cost that has to be paid each time the equipped creature changes, which is exactly why it can exist as a repeatable card-advantage source without ending games by itself.
