Markov Retribution

The modal split is a small clinic in folding combat math and removal into one payoff. The first mode is a team pump straight out of the red overrun tradition, the kind of anthem effect that turns a wide board into lethal in a single attack step. The second borrows from the "creature deals damage equal to its power" line of fight-adjacent removal that various red bite spells have run for years, but restricts the source to a Vampire you control. That tribal gate is what balances the card: the removal only comes online once you have committed the board the pump was already rewarding, so you never get the bite for free. Choosing both stitches the modes together in the correct sequence, since the +1/+0 applies before damage is calculated, letting your Vampire's boosted power clear a bigger blocker while the rest of the team swings into the emptier board it just opened. The design logic is entirely about the Vampire aggro deck this was built to close games for: it functions as a finisher or as removal depending on what the battlefield needs, but only after you have paid the tribal admission. Outside a Vampire-heavy shell it collapses into a mediocre anthem; inside one it is a flexible closer that respects the archetype it was made to serve.
