Mandate of Peace
A Fog that also slams the door. Where a standard combat trick asks how much damage you prevent, this one changes the question to how the turn ends, because ending the combat phase does more than clear the board of attackers: it strands every combat-triggered ability, every reactive spell, and this card itself on the stack, then exiles all of it. That is the load-bearing clause. It answers not just the swing but the whole apparatus hanging off it: the extra-combat step someone was counting on, the pump spell mid-resolution, the sacrifice trigger meant to fire before damage. And locking opponents out of casting spells means there is no window to reassemble the assault once the phase closes. The restriction that pays for all this is the timing: it can only be cast during combat, so it sits dead in your hand until an attack materializes, and it does nothing to sorcery-speed threats or noncombat kill conditions. It is a scalpel built for one emergency, the alpha strike, and nearly useless against everything else. That narrowness gives it the character of a defensive panic button rather than an all-purpose safety valve: white gets to survive the combat that would have ended the game, but only that combat, and only if it held the card until the blades were already out.
