Mana Flare
A symmetrical mana doubler from the earliest design era, and a record of how that era thought about "fair." The trigger gives mana to whoever taps the land, not to the controller of the enchantment, so it functions as a group-hug effect with the brakes off. Early design instinct held that a strong effect could be balanced by sharing it: if both players ramp, neither has an edge, and the red player who paid for the enchantment is technically behind on tempo. In practice the opposite happened. The player who built around it (combo shells, big-mana red, anything that could spend faster than an opponent could empty its hand) turned the symmetry into a one-sided ramp engine. Heartbeat of Spring is the green cousin, and Mirari's Wake the white-green refinement that finally drops the symmetry; the lineage from this card through Vernal Bloom to those descendants traces Wizards slowly accepting that "symmetrical" mana acceleration is almost never actually symmetrical, because the player who deployed the enabler is the one positioned to exploit it. The original trigger also predates modern templating for mana abilities, with the "any type that land produced" clause being post-errata cleanup, so it reads a little oddly next to its successors. It survives from a moment when red was allowed to ramp, when symmetry was treated as a balancing lever, and when doubling everyone's mana was considered a fair rate.
