Malfunction
The cleanest expression of the "lockdown Aura" template, with one detail that widens its reach past its closest relatives: it enchants artifacts as well as creatures. Most permanent-tapping Auras in this lineage read "enchant creature" and stop there, which leaves them helpless against a mana rock or a crewed Vehicle. Extending the target line lets this pin down a key mana source or hold a Vehicle in its tapped state so it cannot crew and attack. The enter trigger that taps the permanent on the way down is what makes the lock immediate rather than reactive: you do not need to catch the target already tapped, and the "doesn't untap" clause then holds it there indefinitely. Note the limit on that reach, though: tapping an Equipment does nothing useful, since a tapped Equipment can still be equipped and still grants its bonuses. Against artifacts, the lock only bites on permanents whose function depends on untapping. The tradeoff is the one every Aura of this kind pays: it walks into removal and bounce that strand your card for nothing, it does little against a permanent already neutralized, and any effect that moves or sacrifices the enchanted permanent frees it. Pacifism-style soft removal trades long-term tempo for the risk of a blowout, and this sits squarely in that bargain, just pointed at a broader set of targets than its cousins.
