A team-wide +2/+2 finishes a wide board and does nothing at all when you have no creatures out, and go-wide aggro has always been at war with itself over how many pump payoffs it can afford before the deck floods early on effects it cannot deploy. Splitting the overrun across the back of a tapped white land is the resolution: the slot is never dead. With an empty battlefield, the card comes down as fixing and does the humble work of hitting a land drop toward your next creature; once the game has stalled behind a row of small bodies, the front face converts that same slot into an alpha strike. Entering tapped taxes that flexibility by a tempo beat, so the extra land drop is never a free ride. This is the design idea rendered in white's go-wide payoff: the pump spell and the land are not two cards stapled together but one card that reads the game state and hands the choice to the player. The overrun effect itself is old news; what the modal double-faced frame buys is the right to defer the decision until the card is already in hand, when you finally know which half the game asked for.
