Magmatic Sprinter
A hasty 3/2 for three mana that walks off the table at your own end step unless you feed it, and the design tension lives entirely in where its two oil counters go. The enter trigger drops them on any artifact or creature you control, so the reflex is to sink both back into the Sprinter and keep it as a recurring aggressive body. But that reflex is the mistake worth interrogating: every counter spent paying the return tax is a counter not charging something that actually converts oil into value. Oil counters are a fungible resource across their mechanic, powering oil-counter payoffs, proliferate engines, and creatures that grow or activate off stored oil. What arrives is a battery on legs, a haste beater that mints two units of that resource on entry, then hands you an ongoing decision each turn: pay to swing again, or let it leave and redirect the fuel toward something with a longer horizon. The counters are the point; the body is the delivery vehicle. Read it as a creature and it is a fragile, self-bouncing three-drop. Read it as oil generation with an aggressive floor, and the end-step clause stops looking like a downside and starts looking like an offer you get to reconsider every turn.
