Falter effects live and die by their price and their timing, and this one pays for a guaranteed ground clear with a sorcery's rigidity. The job is narrow and total: strip every grounded blocker for a turn and convert a stalled board into a lethal swing. Where the original Falter accomplishes the same effect at instant speed, this version locks you into your own combat step, which is the real cost the design accepts for its clean one-line text. The exemption for flyers is the shared weakness of the whole family: a single skyward chump can absorb the alpha strike and leave the card a blank. The deeper problem, also shared, is that none of these spells touch the board on their own; cast one against an empty side of the table and you have spent two mana to read a sorcery. The reward only arrives when the attacker already has enough presence to turn a forced-through swing into a kill, which makes it a closer rather than a developer: the last card in a sequence, not the first. It wants a board it can convert, not one it can build. The sorcery timing compounds that demand, because you commit to the swing on your own turn with no instant-speed bluff to hold back: if the math comes up short, the defender simply plans around your empty hand on the crack back.
