Madcap Experiment
A four-mana coin flip the deck is built to short-circuit before the dice ever land. Read straight, the damage clause is punishing: you reveal cards until you hit an artifact, and the burn equals every card revealed, the artifact included. The naive instinct is to thin your artifact count toward one, but that runs the math backward: fewer artifacts means a longer dig, which means more cards revealed and more damage. The spell punishes the disciplined, artifact-light builder hardest. What rescues it is sequencing. The artifact you fetch enters the battlefield before the damage resolves, so if that artifact is Platinum Emperion, its "your life total can't change" clause is already in effect when the burn tries to land, and the damage is voided no matter how deep the reveal went. The gamble vanishes not because you stopped the dig early but because you nullify the cost after it would otherwise apply. That is the whole design: a self-burn random tutor whose stated drawback is real for any honest deck and irrelevant for the one deck that pairs it with a payload that locks life totals. It dresses a deterministic cheat-into-play in the language of chance, and the chance only stays chance for the player who didn't know which artifact to run.
