Lurking Automaton
A construct whose body is assembled during the draft itself, not the deckbuilding step, which is the whole conceit: the mechanic that powers it (revealing each copy as you pick it and noting your position in the pack) only functions while you draft, and the counters it enters with are settled long before it ever hits the battlefield. The reward scales with how deep into a round you managed to snag copies. A copy taken early notes a low number; one grabbed late notes a high one, so the card rewards tracking pack flow, letting copies wheel, and gambling that they survive to the back half of packs. Stack enough of them and the highest noted number balloons, turning a 0/0 into a genuine finisher; take one too early and the minimum X of 1 (the count includes the card itself) leaves you with a 1/1 body for five, a wasted pick by any measure. That tension is what separates this style of design from a normal late-game artifact: the payoff is fixed at pick time, not cast time, and the size printed on the battlefield is a record of choices you made a round ago. It converts the act of drafting into a hidden resource, where information about pick order is the cost and a swollen creature is the dividend.
