Luminescent Rain

Instant2 generic manaGreen mana

The math is the entire pitch: two life per matching permanent, with the type chosen on resolution so it can count tokens, lords, and anything that happens to share a subtype rather than committing to a guess when you cast it. That flexibility is real, and the instant-speed window is the one genuinely useful wrinkle, since it can be held up as a combat-trick-shaped life cushion against an alpha strike when your board is at its fullest. The structural trouble is harder to design around: lifegain at this rate does nothing to affect the board, and a card that gains the most life precisely when you have already flooded the table sits in the least rewarding corner of design space. It wants a wide tribal board to be worth a card, but a wide tribal board rarely needs the life in the first place. This is the perennial problem with payoffs that pay you for having already done the hard part. It reads as a tribal capstone and plays as a conditional life buffer that asks too much of your creature count to deliver it. Built as a piece of tribal support, it found a small niche in dedicated lifegain shells and very little reach beyond them.
