Lossarnach Captain

Creature — Human Soldier3 generic manaWhite mana

The tap trigger is where the design lives. Most tribal payoffs reward you for going wide with a static buff or a scaling anthem; this one converts each Human entering the battlefield into a tempo tax on the opposing board, tapping down a blocker or an attacker every time a body shows up. The upkeep token is what makes the engine self-feeding: it guarantees at least one tap per turn cycle with no external input, then compounds with every other Human you flicker, cast, or generate. That pairing turns a middling 3/1 into something closer to a soft lockdown piece, since a steady stream of Human tokens keeps taxing a key creature, tapping it out of blocks or forcing it to sit back. First strike is the small honesty in the package: at 3/1 the body dies to almost anything, so first strike lets it trade up and press an advantage in combat rather than sitting back purely as an engine. The card reads as a stat line built for a wide Human deck, but the real axis is denial, not damage; every trigger buys a turn where the opponent's best creature does nothing. The ceiling depends entirely on how many Humans you can flood onto the battlefield, and the floor is a repeatable tap that arrives on its own each upkeep whether or not the rest of your board cooperates.
