Living Death

Sorcery3 generic manaBlack manaBlack mana

Symmetrical reanimation where the symmetry is the cost, not the catch. The sequencing carries the whole design, and reading it carefully is what separates the player who built for it from the player who gets buried by it. Every player first exiles their graveyard creatures, then sacrifices the creatures they control, then drops the exiled pile onto the battlefield, all in one resolution. The order decides everything: the creatures you sacrifice never join the haul, because they reach the graveyard after the exile step has already passed. So the spell rewards a yard stacked with bombs and a board kept light, and it punishes the opponent whose creatures are currently on the table rather than buried. The payoff is a one-card swing that doubles as a board wipe and a mass reanimation in the same breath, the engine behind a recurring black archetype built around self-mill, sacrifice fodder, and dying-to-trigger payoffs: feed the yard early, sweep the field late, let everything return on your terms. It sits in the family of evenhanded-looking effects that are anything but: the player who built toward the asymmetry walks away with an army while the opponent watches their board evaporate. The instinct to call it fair is exactly the trap the design sets.
