Color hosers got more surgical over the years, and this is white answering black with a scalpel rather than a fist. What earns its keep is the word "exile": where most early hosers dealt damage or demanded a sacrifice from the opponent, this one removes a black creature from the game entirely, dodging recursion and graveyard value at a time when black's whole pitch was grinding the long game. The cost is that it spends itself: tap, sacrifice, and the 2/2 body is gone alongside the threat it answered, a one-for-one that asks you to time it for the creature you most need erased. That self-sacrifice is also why it isn't oppressive. It can't loiter in play as a repeatable deterrent the way an enchantment or a tapper would; it's a single bullet, and once fired the gun is empty. Restricting targets to black creatures keeps it honest as a hate piece rather than a maindeck staple, the kind of strong single-color answer that trusts the metagame to decide when it's live. As a Kor Rebel from a plane defined by its struggle against phyrexian black, flavor and function line up: a creature whose entire purpose is to take one of the enemy off the board permanently.
