Leonin Abunas
The protection isn't on the creature; it's on everything around it. That inversion is what gives this Cat Cleric its purpose: a 2/5 body that asks to be ignored while it quietly makes your entire artifact board untouchable by your opponents' spot removal, theft effects, and targeted activated abilities. On an artifact-saturated plane, where decks ran a dozen permanents that a single answer could undo, this turned a board into a fortress: enemy Naturalize effects, anything pointed at your Mindslaver or your equipment, all of it left with nothing legal to aim at. The protection follows the source rather than the targets, though, so killing the Abunas remains the answer, and a five-toughness wall is durable but hardly invincible. It also does nothing against sweepers or sacrifice effects, which is the honest boundary on what hexproof can buy. What makes it endure is the breadth of the umbrella: it doesn't shield one key artifact, it shields every one at once, scaling precisely as your permanent count climbs. Hand it to a fragile artifact engine and that single static line converts a brittle pile of permanents into something an opponent has to dismantle the hard way, one combat or board wipe at a time.
