Trading the extra point of power for the same green output is the whole pitch here: a 2/1 still pressures life totals and trades in combat after the early ramp window has closed, where a 1/1 just sits there or chump blocks. That power is worth less to the ramp math than to the curve. A creature that taps for green and also attacks for two stays useful in an Elf shell, where green's tribal payoffs reward raw creature count and bodies feed a wider board rather than just contributing a green pip. The Elf Druid line is the connective tissue: this is acceleration that also advances an aggressive board, a dual identity a vanilla mana dork never gets to have. The frailty is the cost of stapling offense onto a dork. A 2/1 dies to almost any sweeper or unfavorable trade, so the green it produces is mortgaged against the board staying clear.
