Equipment lives and dies by the tax it charges, and the price here is nearly nothing: one mana to cast, one to equip, and the creature it lands on picks up three things at once. Haste is the load-bearing one. A cheap Equipment that grants haste turns any dead-on-arrival threat into an immediate attacker, which means the boots reward decks built around cheap, disposable bodies that would otherwise wait a turn to matter: the equip cost gets paid the moment a fresh creature hits the table, and the summoning-sickness window that usually protects the defending player just disappears. The +1/+0 nudges combat math in the aggressor's favor, and the ward does quiet defensive work, forcing a tax on removal aimed at whatever wears the boots. Aggressive one-mana Equipment has usually gated its haste-grant behind a heavier equip cost or a narrow creature type; this design does neither, folding the whole package into a mana value the aggressor was going to spend anyway. That solves the perennial problem for cheap gear, which is that a piece of Equipment does nothing the turn a creature dies to a removal spell. Ward answers half of it by making the removal cost more; haste answers the other half by letting the creature at least attack before it goes. The result is a piece of gear that never sits idle: it either taxes the answer or gets its swing in first.
