Landslide

SorceryRed mana

The whole damage range lives in your manabase, which is exactly the tension this card is built around. You spend a single red to cast it, but the payload is whatever stack of Mountains you are willing to dismantle: every point of reach you want costs a permanent land, paid up front and irreversibly. That is a brutal exchange rate dressed up as a one-mana spell, and it turns the card into a closer rather than an enabler. The math only works once your board is otherwise spent, which is why it reads as the finishing line of a mono-red deck that has run out of threats but not out of lands. Converting your own land base directly into face damage is a recurring red design lever, but this is among the bluntest versions: no rummaging, no clever targeting, just battlefield Mountains traded for damage at one apiece. Permanence is what disciplines the trade. You cannot ramp back to ten lands the turn after you torch someone for nine, so the spell forces a single decisive commitment instead of a slow grind. It restricts targeting to a player or planeswalker, never a creature, which is the design admission of what it actually is: not removal, not tempo, but a way to dump your remaining mana base into a lethal swing when nothing else on the board will get there.
