Landbind Ritual

Sorcery3 generic manaWhite manaWhite mana

Two life per Plains is a number that scales or collapses depending entirely on how committed your manabase is. In a build leaning hard on white sources, the payoff stacks past what any fixed-amount life spell of the era offered; in a two-color deck running four or five Plains, it does almost nothing. That is the same lever devotion mechanics and the old "for each" payoffs have always pulled: a ceiling for mono-color builds, a floor for everyone hedging, then a question about which one you are. The trouble is what the slot costs. A pure life-total spell with no board presence, no cards, and a sorcery-speed clause asks for one of the narrowest jobs in white: the deck that wants life specifically as a resource (a payoff for paying life, a grind against an offensive life-loss matchup) and can afford to flood its lands with Plains to get the volume. That intersection is real but small, and the card's flatness about it is the point. It rewards full color commitment and offers nothing to a splash, which makes it less a lifegain spell than a reward for going all-in on Plains dressed up as one.
