Common-rarity black aggro filler, built around the tax that menace imposes: a 2/3 that can't be blocked except by two or more creatures, which on a thin board often means it isn't blocked at all. The toughness is the quiet part doing the work. To stop this thing at all, the defender must commit two bodies to combat; a 2/2 with menace can at least be double-blocked and killed for a fair trade, but the extra point of toughness means the pair of blockers frequently fails to kill it, so the defender spends two cards' worth of combat and still watches the attacker walk away with its creature. That is the entire design brief: a curve-filling beater that turns a modest board presence into pressure the opponent can't answer profitably in combat. Nothing about it rewards building around, and it asks for no support beyond the desire to keep swinging. It exists to make the third turn of a low-curve black deck threatening, and to give creature-type-matters decks a body with a couple of relevant tags attached. Plain, honest, and exactly as deep as the menace reminder text suggests.
