Kraul Foragers

Creature — Insect Scout4 generic manaGreen mana

Undergrowth was the mechanic that asked you to fill your own graveyard with bodies and paid out by the count, and this occupies the lifegain payoff slot in that suite. The structure is honest: a 4/4 for five is a fair common-rarity body, and the trigger scales entirely off creatures already dead, so the card contributes nothing to stocking its own bin. It rewards a board state you assembled through earlier trades, chump blocks, and self-mill, which makes it a back-half stabilizer rather than a curve-filler. In a deck actively grinding, a late cast can swing a race by a dozen life or more; cast on an empty graveyard, the trigger counts nothing and gains nothing at all. That dependency is the whole design lever: identical text does no work or resets a race depending on how many creature cards have hit the yard by the time you play it. As a graveyard-lifegain effect it belongs to green's long tradition of turning the bin into a resource, but the undergrowth template keeps the trigger deliberately narrow (creature cards specifically, counted once on entry, no recursion attached), which is what holds the design to a clean common.
