Koth's Courier

Creature — Human Rogue1 generic manaRed manaRed mana

Forestwalk on a red creature is color-pie engineering aimed squarely at one matchup: the green decks whose mana so reliably included a Forest that evasion against them was a near-guarantee. The 2/3 body is unremarkable when the keyword does nothing, but the moment the opposition leans on green sources it becomes an unblockable clock, and it does that work without asking for a single point of investment beyond casting it. This is hate-bear logic applied to combat rather than to the stack: instead of taxing or punishing the green deck, it simply walks past whatever they leave back on defense. The design tradition is old, since landwalk has been the default "this color answers that color" lever since the earliest sets, and the weakness is the one every landwalker carries: against an opponent running no Forests, the ability is a blank, and you are left with a functionally vanilla creature priced a touch above rate. That conditionality is the whole bargain. Devastating in one column of the metagame and inert everywhere else, this is a deliberately narrow tool rather than a flexible one, the kind of card that exists because a format wanted a clean lever to pull against green and got one.
