Kjeldoran Gargoyle

Creature — Gargoyle5 generic manaWhite mana

The lifegain clause here is doing more than the body suggests: it triggers on any damage this creature deals, not just combat. Block with it, gain life. Get blocked, gain life. The first-strike step means damage lands before the attacker can swing back, so against a smaller blocker you pocket the life and keep the gargoyle, and against a larger one the flying keeps it out of range entirely. That is a defensive flyer wearing a value engine: a card built to stabilize a board and grind a life total north while patrolling the air. The math never gets explosive (a 3/3 deals three at a time), but it compounds turn over turn in a way a vanilla flyer cannot. The design belongs to an older school of white that prized incremental advantage and attrition over tempo: durable, evasive, and self-sustaining rather than fast. It asks for a board state slow enough to let three-point lifegain swings matter, which is exactly the kind of game a control or lifegain shell wants to be playing. Nothing about the rate is pushed, but the combination of evasion, a damage-prevention-adjacent first strike, and life that follows every connection makes it a clean fit for any deck that treats its own life total as a resource to bank rather than a clock to outrace.
