Kirtar's Wrath

Wrath of God with a graveyard incentive bolted on, and the bolt is what makes it worth examining. The base mode costs two more mana than the classic four-mana board sweep, which is the tax for what threshold buys: cross seven cards in the yard and the same destruction leaves you with two flying Spirits standing in the rubble. That is the design tension this era of cards kept returning to: a card that is merely fine before threshold and genuinely strong after, so the deck-building question becomes how fast you can fill a graveyard rather than whether the effect is good. The Spirits do quiet but real work here. A symmetrical sweeper is only as useful as the position it leaves you in, and a normal Wrath resets both players to empty; this one resets the opponent to empty while you keep two evasive bodies to start applying pressure or chump-block a follow-up threat. The regeneration clause closes the obvious out for green and the period's regenerating black creatures, the same insurance Wrath of God carries. The cost is where the bargain stays balanced: at six mana, you are paying a full board-wipe's worth of extra tempo for a reward that only shows up if your graveyard cooperates, which keeps the upside earned rather than free.
