A 2/1 that hands out a single +1/+1 counter on the way in reads as unremarkable Kithkin filler, and cast from hand that is exactly what it is: a modest body and one counter parked wherever you want it. The card's real shape only appears once it dies. Reactivating it from the graveyard spins off a copy aimed at every opponent, and because those copies enter the battlefield, each one carries its own counter trigger. Against a full pod that means several attacking bodies and several counters to distribute before the copies are sacrificed at the beginning of the next end step. That scaling is what separates encore from ordinary graveyard recursion: the value doesn't just recur, it compounds with each additional opponent, sitting flat in a duel and swelling as the pod grows. The counter itself is the through-line across the card's two lives: use the initial cast to push an evasive threat, then bank the spent shell in the yard as a reload that redistributes counters onto a board you've already assembled. The fragile 2/1 frame is the ceiling the whole thing is priced against, keeping the copies disposable so the payoff stays a burst of pressure rather than a permanent army.
