King of the Pride
A tribal lord with a body that refuses to profit from its own anthem. The +2/+1 floats to every other Cat you control, but the King stays a 2/1, which means the piece that turns your board sideways is the first thing an opponent wants to point removal at, and killing it costs them nothing in tempo. That asymmetry is the tax lords have always carried, and this one leans into it: the buff runs a full step past the standard +1/+1 lord line on the power side, and the fragility of the source is what you pay for the extra reach. A pack of one-power Cat tokens becomes a wall of three-power threats, and the matching +1 toughness keeps each survivor in step with what a standard +1/+1 lord would give. The math rewards going wide first and playing the King last, so the anthem resolves onto an existing army rather than announcing itself to an empty board. Its place in feline lineage is instructive: where Kemba, Kha Regent brings the tokens and Regal Caracal arrives with its own pride in tow, the King is pure multiplier and contributes nothing to the count it scales. No board, no payoff. Build the pride first, then crown it.
