Keldon Twilight

Enchantment1 generic manaBlack manaRed mana

Most enchantments that punish inaction tax the durdling player a little; this one collects a body. The trick is in how it reframes the attack step: every turn becomes a referendum on aggression, where declining to send creatures into combat means feeding one back to the graveyard at your own end step. It is a clock that runs on passivity, built for the black-red aggro shells of its era that wanted to weaponize the stalled boards they were trying to force open. The "of their choice" clause and the lookback to the beginning of the turn keep it from being purely punitive: you sacrifice your worst creature, and a board emptied during a profitable combat is safe by the time the trigger checks. So the card does not punish keeping creatures back per se; it punishes the turn in which no creature attacked at all, which for a tempo deck stuck behind a defensive wall is the more relevant ask. The asymmetry only ever favors the player who has somewhere to swing. A control deck holding up blockers bleeds a creature a turn while the aggressor, with an empty board or a connecting one, pays nothing. That is the whole design: a tax aimed precisely at the deck that wins by not engaging, printed in the two colors least equipped to out-grind anyone over the long game.
