Keep Watch

Instant2 generic manaBlue mana

Most blue card draw asks you to spend your own resources: tap your lands, sacrifice a permanent, pay life. This one charges the opponent's aggression instead, scaling its yield directly to how committed the attacking player is to the swing. The wrinkle is whose attack counts. The text rewards any attacking creature, so the obvious play is to flash it in during the opponent's combat step and turn their all-out alpha strike into a fistful of cards, but nothing stops a creature deck from drawing off its own attack either. That dual nature is what gives the card its identity: a punish card dressed as a generic cantrip, a way to make swinging wide against a blue deck feel expensive. The catch is conditionality. Against a defensive board or an empty one, the spell has nothing to count, and against a stalled-out grind it sits dead in hand. Against a deck that has to keep attacking to win, it converts the opponent's clock into your card advantage at instant speed. That dependence on a live combat step is the price for a draw spell that can, in the right swing, refill a hand off a single instant. Among blue's spells that profit from the board rather than from your library, it is the one keying specifically off the attack step, drawing exactly as deep as the game in front of it is willing to commit to combat.
