Entwine is the mechanic that turns a modal spell from a menu into a bundle, and this card is a case study in how to price the difference. Cast for three mana, you pick two of four effects and get a competent instant: edict-plus-lifegain, graveyard hate-plus-a-body, whatever the board asks for. Pay the entwine cost and all four resolve at once, which is where the design starts doing real work. The four modes are not four flavors of the same thing; they are four distinct answers to four distinct problems. The sacrifice mode pressures creature decks, the graveyard exile shuts off recursion and delve, the Spirit token blocks or chips, and the life gain buys turns against aggression. Bundled, they add up to a single card that stabilizes a board, empties a yard, leaves a flier behind, and pads your total, all at instant speed. That instant-speed clause is the quiet part: the graveyard exile and the edict can both be held for an end step or a combat window rather than committed on your own turn, so the flexibility extends across timing as well as effect. What keeps the entwine mode from being a strict upgrade is the tax itself: six total mana for a two-color spell is a real ask, so the two-mode floor has to stand on its own. It does, which is the whole point. A card that is never dead and occasionally does everything.
