That single line has shaped two decades of legendary-creature design, because any white deck can run a land that sends the format's biggest legend back to hand at no mana cost. The defensive applications (rebuying enters-the-battlefield triggers on your own legends, dodging removal in response, resetting a Thalia or a Sigarda) are the polite use; the oppressive use is what defined its eternal-format reputation, where it served as a recurring hard answer to Reanimator's Griselbrand and Sneak and Show's Emrakul before settling into its current legal-but-watched status across those formats.
