A 2/1 for two with no text: the plainest shape a blue two-drop can take, and a deliberate one. Vanilla creatures at common exist to round out a curve without competing for design attention or rules space; they are the body the set prints so the cards with text have something to share the battlefield with. The Human Scout class line is the only thing pointing past the stat box, and it points at a tribal hook that never materialized into anything load-bearing. What this card represents is connective tissue: a cheap aggressive body that trades up in the first few turns and gets outclassed by anything with abilities not long after. There is nothing to build around, no restriction doing quiet work, no interaction worth the sentence. In any environment where two-mana creatures come with text attached, this is the kind of body you set aside first.
