Vanilla legendary creatures are a Legends signature, the set having committed to legendary as a story-flavor designation before the rules text caught up to the supertype's weight. This 4/5 body at five mana lays that disconnect bare: named and framed as a singular figure of the plane but mechanically indistinguishable from a hypothetical common beater. The rate is honest by 1994 standards (compare the era's Craw Wurm at six mana for a 6/4) and the green-white color identity points at a stoic defender, but nothing on the card carries the weight her name implies. The design lineage matters less for what she does than for what she forced the rules to clarify later: the legend rule, the eventual supertype cleanup, and decades of design work to make the legendary tag mean something mechanical rather than a name with no rules behind it. Her real second life came through Karona, False God, the five-color legend whose flavor text and creation myth retroactively gave Jasmine a place in the story as one of Karona's progenitors. That is the rare case of a vanilla Legends creature being narratively rescued by a later printing, and it is most of what keeps her in conversation: a body without abilities, anchored to the plane by a card printed nearly a decade afterward.
