Jarad's Orders

Sorcery2 generic manaBlack manaGreen mana

Most tutors fetch a single card and ask you to find the rest of the line yourself; this one fetches two and pre-pays for the second half of the cost the way a graveyard deck most wants it paid. You name two creatures: one lands in your hand to cast or hold, the other goes straight to the graveyard, bypassing the entire "draw it, then discard it" two-step that reanimator and recursion decks normally have to assemble across multiple cards. The split is the whole design conceit. It assumes you want a creature in two different zones at once, which is a wildly specific want until you are building around bin-fillers and reanimation targets, at which point it is exactly the want. The friction that pays for the rate is opponent information (you reveal both, so the graveyard target and the hand card are public) and the sorcery speed, which keeps it off the end-step window where a free tutor would be too clean. It also functions as a one-card engine starter: the hand half can be the payoff and the graveyard half the fuel, or vice versa, with the two creatures chosen to feed each other. The Golgari color pairing is doing real work here, marrying black's graveyard recursion to green's deep tutoring, and the card sits squarely at the seam where those two philosophies overlap rather than borrowing one and stapling on the other.
