Jace's Projection
The tell here is the second ability: a creature that feeds loyalty back to a specific planeswalker rather than just growing itself. That reciprocity is the design point. Most planeswalker-companion creatures pull the resource one direction, either a walker minting a body or a creature standing guard in front of one, but this one routes the exchange back into Jace's loyalty, treating the two permanents as a single engine fueled from both ends. The draw trigger handles the growing: pair it with a Jace whose whole identity is drawing extra cards, and the counters accrue as a natural consequence of the plan already in motion, so the body scales without asking you to spend cards on it. Separately, the sink converts a blue-mana surplus into loyalty, letting a Jace out-tick removal or reach an ultimate a turn early. It is a leash card by construction: the activated ability names Jace specifically, so the creature is only fully realized alongside the planeswalker it was designed to accompany. Detach it from that pairing and the loyalty sink goes dead, leaving a 2/2 that still grows off every draw but has nowhere to send the surplus mana. That narrowness is the honest cost of the synergy. The reward is that both engines run on the same fuel: every card you draw grows the body, and every spare
buys back the loyalty that drew those cards in the first place.
