The signature trick of this design is how little it asks of you to keep ticking up. The plus-one is pure card advantage with a scry on top: no board interaction, no loyalty cliff, just a planeswalker that out-draws the opponent every turn it survives. That puts the burden of stabilization on the minus-two, a single-creature bounce that buys exactly one swing back from whichever attacker most threatens the loyalty total. Everything hinges on the count. At five starting loyalty, one bounce drops the card to three, inside range of a follow-up attacker, so it wants a board already half-stable rather than one it has to rebuild alone. The bounce is real interaction and a real tempo swing, but it is a delay, not a defense: it answers one creature, once, and leaves the planeswalker exposed to the second. So this is built as a control finisher that never finishes by attacking. Instead it accrues toward the minus-eight, and the emblem it leaves changes the texture of the game more than any single counterspell would. Countering the first spell each opponent casts every turn taxes the entire rest of the match, turning every removal spell and every threat into a question of whether it is worth spending first. A slow, attritional take on the blue planeswalker: modest immediate impact, no incidental loyalty protection, a payoff that demands the control deck do its job long enough to arrive.
