Ironwright's Cleansing

Sorcery2 generic manaWhite mana

The clause that earns its keep here is "exile," not "destroy." White has always had cheap, instant-speed answers to artifacts and enchantments (Disenchant has been around since the beginning), but the destroy-based versions leave the offending permanent in the graveyard, where indestructible permanents shrug off the spell entirely and recursion engines treat the trip as temporary. Trading the instant timing for exile is the deal this card strikes: it is slower and costs more than the genre's baseline, but what it removes does not come back, and the indestructible loophole closes. That makes it a categorical answer rather than a tempo answer, the disenchant you reach for when the thing you need gone is the kind of thing a cheaper version cannot keep gone. The premium is real and the sorcery speed stings against decks that want to deploy and protect at instant speed, but for a color whose enchantment removal has more often been about resetting the board than permanently subtracting from it, the exile rider is the whole reason to run this over the cheaper, faster options that share its job.
