Iridescent Hornbeetle

Most cards that care about +1/+1 counters reward you for the size they create: a bigger body, a scaling anthem, a threshold to cross. This one ignores where the counters end up entirely. It counts only the raw number you put on your creatures during the turn, then converts that count one-for-one into 1/1 Insects at your end step. Five counters on a single monster and one counter across five bodies feed it identically; the Beetle is agnostic about distribution and cares only about volume. That reframes counter production as token production, and it means anything that manufactures counters in bulk becomes a token engine by proxy: proliferate qualifies, since it puts fresh counters on permanents you already have loaded, and every counter it adds is another Insect waiting at the end step. The timing is the constraint that keeps the rate honest. The tokens arrive after combat, so this is a next-turn payoff rather than a same-turn swing, and an opponent who kills the Beetle before your end step wipes out the entire yield: the counters stay on your creatures, but the tokens they would have made never appear. The Beetle wants a real counter engine humming underneath it, generous when the deck is committed to putting counters down in quantity and completely inert when it is not.
