Insufferable Balladeer

Creature — Dwarf Bard1 generic manaRed mana

The italicized Vicious Mockery is an ability word, a bit of Baldur's Gate flavor bolted onto the actual keyword doing the work: goad. The enter trigger does two things at once that fit a bard turning insult into battlefield chaos. First it applies a falter effect, preventing the targeted creature from blocking this turn, which clears a lane for your own attack the moment the Dwarf lands. Then it goads the same creature, so until your next turn it must attack, and must attack someone other than you. That is a political card at heart. Goad has always been a multiplayer-native tool, a way to point an opponent's threat at a third party rather than absorbing it yourself, and stapling a can't-block clause to it turns a single entry into a two-front nudge: your board gets a temporary opening while the goaded creature becomes downstream's problem. The tension lives in the frame. A 2/1 is fragile enough that the enter trigger is nearly all you are buying, and the goad expires on your next turn, so the value is a pulse rather than an engine. This is an incidental piece, not a centerpiece: built for tables where turning creatures against their owners is the point, and content to be a single well-timed shove rather than a repeatable one.
