Fog spells have always been a defensive parlor trick: you buy a turn, the attack fizzles, and you are exactly where you started, down a card. This one flips the ledger by pricing the fog against the swing that provoked it. The damage prevention is the same clause that has existed since the earliest days of the game, but here the incoming attack becomes the raw material for the response: every point the alpha strike would have dealt to your face converts into a 2/1 flyer, so the wider the swing, the larger the army that answers it. A cautious opponent who chips in for three leaves you three Inklings; an opponent who commits the board hoping to close the game instead hands you a flying wall and, on the next turn, a lethal counter-swing of their own creation. The instant speed matters as much as the token count: this sits in hand as a bluff, punishing the all-in more precisely than any Settle the Wreckage-style board wipe, because it scales continuously with the crime rather than triggering on a fixed condition. The cost keeps the design in check: five mana held open across a turn cycle is a real tax, and against a slow trickle of damage the payoff shrinks toward irrelevance. It rewards the specific texture of multiplayer combat, where somebody eventually overcommits, and turns that inevitable moment of greed into a swarm.
