Enchantment — AuraRed mana

Spend a card to make another card harder to block: that was the trade this Aura asked you to make, for one red mana, on a creature. The bargain rarely paid off even when the menace effect (then unkeyworded, just reminder text describing a blocking restriction) was scarcer than it is now. Auras have always carried the same structural tax: the enchanted creature dies and you lose both cards, so the evasion you bought evaporates with the body. What is worth noting is how completely the design idea got absorbed and improved upon. The same effect now arrives baked into creature bodies, on cheap equipment that survives the creature's death, or as a rider on a spell that does something else too. The standalone evasion Aura was a casualty of card-advantage discipline; modern design simply stopped believing a creature should have to dedicate two cards to becoming difficult to block. Reading it today shows an idea the game kept while quietly retiring the delivery method.
