Illusory Gains

Most theft auras steal one creature and sit there; this one is a leash that keeps slipping to whatever entered last. Mind Control takes a single body and leaves you in command of it for the rest of the game, at the same five-mana rate. Here the control is real but provisional: you hold the enchanted creature until an opponent's next creature enters, at which point the Aura abandons its host and clamps onto the new arrival, handing the old creature back. The trigger is mandatory and indifferent to whether the swap helps you, which is the instability the whole card is built around. Against a board that has stopped developing, you keep the best thing on the table indefinitely. Against an opponent who keeps casting creatures, you are locked into a rolling exchange where their freshest play becomes yours and your previous prize walks home, sometimes a downgrade, sometimes a token you would rather not be saddled with. Sequencing matters at the margins, and it usually cuts in your favor: you control the Aura's triggered ability, so when an opponent's creature enters on their turn, active-player-nonactive-player order puts their enter-the-battlefield trigger on the stack first and yours on top, meaning the leash jumps before their creature's arrival trigger resolves. It rewards reading the board two casts ahead rather than the one-and-done math of ordinary control magic. The Aura is only as loyal as the opponent's hand is empty.
