A burn spell with a color filter on its targeting: three damage to spend, but only against white and/or blue creatures, divided however the board demands. That restriction is the whole transaction. By limiting itself to two colors, the card buys efficiency it would never get as an unconditional sweeper-in-miniature, and the divided-damage clause lets it answer a token swarm, a pair of one-toughness fliers, or a single three-toughness threat with the same two mana. Hatred spells like this one (Flashfires, Boil, Choke, and the long line of color-hosers stretching back to the earliest sets) only matter when the format hands you a target-rich enemy, and red has historically aimed its sideboard punishment at the two colors most likely to field cheap, fragile, evasive bodies. Instant speed earns its keep here: you hold the spell through the opponent's combat, let them commit, then split the damage across whatever attacked, a flexibility no sorcery hoser can match. The downside is the same as every hate card's downside, which is that against the wrong half of the color pie it is a dead draw, three damage you cannot point anywhere. That is the bargain a color-locked spell asks you to accept, and it is why the rate is excellent precisely because the applicability is narrow.
