Most oil counter payoffs treated the resource as a fuse: creatures arrived carrying counters, spent them on activated abilities, and rarely lasted past the second spend. This Golem inverts that clock. Rather than counting down, it counts up, adding a fresh oil counter to any creature you control that already carries one as it enters, then stapling a static +1/+1 to every oil-bearing body. The effect turns a spend-it-once resource into a growing board buff, and rewards a deck stuffed with cheap counter-carriers rather than one big centerpiece. The anthem clause is the load-bearing half: it pays out even on creatures whose counters you never intend to activate, so the counters become a durability stat as much as a fuel gauge. The trigger fires only on entry, which means growth is front-loaded per creature rather than a per-turn accumulator, and it does nothing for a creature that arrives without a counter, keeping the payoff tethered to the theme instead of functioning as a generic lord. There is one honest tell in its own design: a 2/3 body for three that gives itself no oil counters is the single creature in the engine that misses its own bonus, marking it as a support piece for a counters-matters swarm rather than a body worth casting on its own merits.
