A 4/4 for five in mono-red is a fair body and nothing more, until the conditional flash flips it into a midrange ambusher. The design gates its upside on color commitment: control a green or blue permanent and the Yeti gains the ability to deploy at instant speed, blanking an attack or punishing a tapped-out opponent. That condition wants a genuine green or blue card on the battlefield (a creature, an enchantment, an off-color artifact, anything that actually carries the color), not just a Forest or Island, since basics are colorless and will not switch the flash on. The body never changes, which keeps the floor honest; the flash is pure positional value layered on top, available exactly when you have proven you are playing alongside the colors the design wants to see paired with red. Its build-around incentive lives in its timing rather than its stats: an aggressive color coaxed into a reactive posture without altering a single number on the card. The structural trick is that a flash creature held up as an instant rewrites the combat math for an opponent who has to attack into untapped mana and an unknown blocker, and this one hands that threat to a deck that paid the manabase tax to splash green or blue, with no setup beyond simply playing its colors honestly.
