Two answers folded into one instant: it strips a creature's abilities (neutralizing a regenerating wall, a pinging activation, an indestructible finisher) and resets its body to a base 0/1 in the same breath. The 0/1 base is the half doing more than ability removal alone. It turns a 6/6 attacker into something a lone blocker survives, or saddles a defending creature with a body that dies to a single point of power, so this serves as a combat trick as readily as an answer. The line to respect is layer math: setting base power and toughness leaves +1/+1 counters untouched, so a creature loaded with counters keeps those bonuses stacked atop the new base and can still connect hard after the spell resolves. Against a clean printed body, the reset bites. The catch is duration: everything snaps back at end of turn, which makes this a tempo and combat tool rather than removal. The creature returns at full strength next turn unless you killed it in the window you opened. White rarely receives unconditional instant-speed answers, and this is one of the older attempts to hand the color a flexible response that respects its boundaries: it does not destroy, it humiliates, and the threat lives if you fail to capitalize. The quietly broad piece is "loses all abilities," shutting off protection, indestructibility, and activated escape routes for exactly long enough to matter.
